Celebrating achievements
and fostering professional growth

EPHEA is committed to recognising the outstanding contribution that Equity Practitioners make to the lives of students and staff across the tertiary education sector.

 

Goal 4: of EPHEA’s Strategic Plan is to recognise and celebrate the work of equity practitioners across the sector. We offer a range of recognition activities including our Early Career Practitioner and Lifetime Member Awards, as well as mentoring programs, our Champions of Change initiative and a range of professional development grants to support the professional development of our members.

Early Career Practitioner Awards

The EPHEA Early Career Practitioner Award recognises outstanding equity practitioners who have demonstrated a commitment to student equity, within their institution and communities, and are demonstrating potential future leadership capacity. Early Career Practitioners, must be within their first five years of employment in a student or staff facing equity role to be eligible to be nominated.


Recipients of the Early Career Equity Practitioner Award will be announced at the biennial EPHEA Conference, where they will receive an award and free registration for the 2024 EPHEA Conference in Auckland New Zealand. They will also be invited to join the EPHEA Executive Committee for 2025.

Nominations are now open until Friday 9th August, 2024.

The nomination will include the following information:

  • Details of the person being nominated (first name; last name; years in the sector and organisation employed).

  • 250 word overview of the achievements of the person being nominated.

  • Details of two person nominators, noting that one nominator must be their current, direct supervisor. 

Lifetime Members

EPHEA Lifetime Member awards recognise significant and long-term contributions to equity in universities and TAFE across Australia and New Zealand. The award also seeks to recognise specific contributions to work that has enhanced the presence of EPHEA over the years.

Champions for Change

Champions for Change was developed in 2020 in partnership between EPHEA and the National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education (NCSEHE) as part of World Access to Higher Education Day (WAHED). In our first year we celebrated over 70 nominees, and since then have recognised over 260 Equity Practitioners from across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

EPHEA Grants

Throughout the year EPHEA offers members the opportunity to apply for grants and awards to support their attendance at conferences and to undertake professional development. 

As opportunities become available, they will be shared with our members via the EPHEA mailing list.
